This fully automated espresso machine (Delonghi Gran Dama Espresso maker) is the new addition to our corporate kitchen. The first thought I had after seeing this machine was that this new toy will last a week before breaking/stop working/will flash lights we won’t know what to do with. (of course I was wrong)
A cappuccino machine can be a fun addition to any office- that is if you are not the weakest link in charge of making those espresso drinks. I took one good look at my new responsibility and smiled an evil smile. There is no way this flimsy, yet sleek-looking, espresso maker would live up to my Italian-cappuccino-making expectations.
I was dead wrong. I can admit it here but will deny when asked in person, after all I don’t want to stand there the whole day. This small espresso maker automatically grinds, froths, steams, and cleans itself at a push of a button. Other than choosing between a full/half serving for your espresso, you can also choose from a latte/cappuccino/macchiato. A separate and genius milk container will froth your milk for the desired drink, although it is not a brista-quality it is the closest you can get in a push of a button.
Major downsides are the steep price ($2,500) and the time it takes to make each drink (The machine takes time to heat, clean, and grind the coffee).
I am not sure I would recommend it for your home kitchen, but if your boss is buying one for the office – go for it!
