I am beginning to believe that Johnny Depp can do nothing right stylistically. Put aside for a moment that the proportions on this suit are completely wrong and the pants are clownishly baggy; the shoes he's wearing look like they were dragged through mud and dust, given a beating, and then beaten again for good measure. Did he go trekking through the Amazon before his red carpet appearance and forget to change into his dress shoes? The negative effects of a bulky, oversized suit could not be any better on display--he looks short and stout.
Rather than continuing to wear horrible, ill-fitting clothes, he could much more effectively look the part of a Hollywood rebel by embracing Thom Browne suits with trademark accentuated cuffed pants. On the other hand, his outfit definitely contributes to the persona of his latest movie character, Sweeney Todd, a crazed, murderous barber who cuts people up to make them into pies.
