Like the success story for an abandoned puppy (albeit a very sophisticated one—a French poodle, maybe), New York Fashion Week has found a new, loving home. For the past fifteen years, Bryant Park has hosted the iconic white tents where the fashion world gathers twice a year for the mythical and secret rites of style renewal.
But as Fashion Week has expanded in sheer numbers of people involved, it has outgrown its old home and needed a new one worthy of its importance and magnitude. Mayor Bloomberg, being the patron saint of New York fashion, pledged to help IMG and the CFDA find a new space—and that he did.
Beginning in September 2010, Fashion Week will be held in Damrosch Park at the Lincoln Center Plaza. The space will represent a 25% increase—perfect for us lowly Fashion Bloggers! More space will hopefully mean more seats, less standing room…and more seat assignments (One can dream)!
