It's getting do damn cold to jog outside, and the gym is too boring.
That is why i love ice skating!
Unless you are fortunate to have a frozen lake where you can practice on, it's hard to find a crowdless ring.
I found my solution last night, The Pond in Bryant Park, NYC. It's open until midnight on the weekend, and it's free! Although the place can get packed during the day (anyone said free in NYC?!) the last hour tends to get slower, much less kids around and the music is fun. They have an outdoor restaurant for those who feel safer on dry land (although source report a mediocre coffee).
I had such a great time, but what usually happens is i get bored of going in circles. Not that docking people that tend to fall and drag everyone around them isn't fun. So my next goal is trying to skate backwards (and practice those turns).
In the mean time i found these fun videos onilne for advanced moves. it's one thing to watch them and another to master them, but this is a really great way to exercise and have fun while at it.
