What happened to the Kooks? It was obvious that they would never be especial...that they're songs wouldn't be featured in the best of the XXI century in a magazine decades from now...but that was something interesting there...now that's gone.
They are a band with a purpose: write pretty songs to get girls, songs that you can listen at the beach, do a lual or something...but even if they aimed low, they reached high by writing songs that were nice but talked of something real.
What it's a shame is that the fame got to their heads, if you don't consider that fame was always there. They made the horrible mistake by assuming that writing more song using the same formula of the first album would get them more girls. But what it got them was a double album of shallow music.
Konk is the Kooks. No one can accuse them of changing, experimenting...they're still the band that caught thousands of hearts, but in a silly way now...there are lyrics but they don't say anything smart...
What they don't realise is that to reach the universal, you have to talk about the especific and if they want to talk about love and girls, they must talk about a real love, or a real girl, or at least something that can convince everyone that could happen to them...that happened to them.
I humbly advise the band to narrow down they're songs, cause I think everyone prefer one Naïve than 20 songs that no one will remember the name, ok?
