90210 spinoff, you need a new stylist

90210 spinoff, you need a new ...

In no uncertain terms, the CW said “low viewership be damned” a couple of weeks ago when it announced its Fall ‘08 show lineup.

The new series debuting later this year, promising to be both sexy and addictive, already have a semi-devoted following. In particular, Stylista and 90210.

But after further examination, I think the latter is going to need a little more than original Beverly Hills alums Tori Spelling and Jennie Garth to keep its audience attention.

With Gossip Girl name dropping labels like Travota and outfitting its stars with avant-garde designers weekly, how can a show with a similar plot — teens living in excess and backstabbing their friends when the situation presents itself — survive with a bad wardrobe?

Not to mention, Stylista’s head editrix Anne Slowly, will for certain be decked out in designer duds each episode if the YSL star necklace she wore in the show’s teaser is any indication to how the rest of her outfits will look.

Don’t get me wrong. I think a Jovovich-Hawk floral mini could compete with a Alice & Olivia shift any day. But how less interesting or intriguing will the catfights be in the 90210 mansions when its stars are wearing Forever21.

Maybe Patricia field could drop off a few Chanel skirts or Valentino handbags on her way to the GG lot?
