While MTV’s scripted reality The Hills has always been pretty awful and really not worth the hour a week it takes to consume all of the bad acting and jersey dresses, I always watched it because Teen Vogue was affiliated with the show. The union led to appearances by Marc Jacobs, a cool Conde Nast fashion closet, and the two on-camera interns — Whitney and Lauren — were given the opportunity to attend the Crillon Ball in Paris, with a film crew, of course.
And when I caught word that West coast editor-in-chief Lisa Love no longer wanted to be associated with show (I don’t blame her), I was kind of sad. No more MJ in Juicy Couture sweat pants? Bummer.
But be sad no more fans of the fashion glossy. Because Teen Vogue has created its own real behind-the-scenes series that promises to make every intern hopeful flip. In the first episode, which can be viewed on the mag’s site, the camera follows fashion assistant Blake English and editor Mary Kate Steinmiller on a tour of the fashion closet.
Now, why didn’t Teen Vogue do a show with MTV that excluded Laguna Beach alums to begin with? Their own people are much, much cooler.
