The One-Dress Campaign and Charity Initiative launched yesterday at the Mal Sirrah Showroom in New York City. The event brought about many people to come see THE DRESS.
The One-Dress, also known as "The One-Dress Womankind Can Depend On," has been collectively designed and created with the input of more than 1000 women from across the world using social networks such as Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter.
Creative Director of Mal Sirrah Malcolm Harris (the man who hung up on Angelina Jolie when she was trying to order one of his dresses), created the concept to help make women of all shapes and sizes look good while raising money to support women in developing countries.
During the process, which took about eighteen months, women were asked to share information about their lifestyles, likes, dislikes in fabrics, colors, silhouettes, and other preferences as it relates to every woman's essential item-- the dress. The final result? A 100% silk knit jersey that can be worn in many ways.
Women from anywhere can purchase this dress for $225 on the One-Dress website. All portions of all profits will benefit the charities Womankind Worldwide and KIVA.org.
