Each year, the American Gem Trade Association (AGTA) hosts a competition for the best of the best colored gemstone and cultured pearl designs.  The event was held in New York City for its 26th anniversary and showcased well-known designers such as Erica Courtney and Ivanka Trump to some really amazing student work.

Judges picked winners based categories including Bridal, Business/Day Wear, Classical, Evening, and Men's Wear. Color was key in the judges choices as well as overall beauty and wearability, innovative design, effective use of materials, quality of gemstone, workmanship, and consumer appeal.

Viewing the collection made me want to don all the gorgeous gems, but my pick of the the most beautiful baubles to die for were these 18K yellow gold drop earrings by Samuel Getz and this 18K yellow gold ring featuring a Aquamarine cabochon and multi-colored Diamonds by designer Sara Weinstock.
