I think just about anyone in the fashion industry will tell you that Asians and Europeans are a little ahead of Americans in there fashion asthetics and interests... and, perhaps we can ruin that for them in the future with a few more McDonalds and Walmarts, but for now... they are tearing us up.
Which is why "beauty in men" may become a more predominant theme here in the USA in the near future. Apparently, it is all the rage in Asian countries at the moment. While we have metrosexuals- who are more vain than girly, they do stick to some standard conventions about masculinity.
Apparently, the Japanese are abandoning this for the Bishonen! Bishonen literally translates to “beautiful boy” or “beautiful youth.” This new trend in Japanese pop culture apparently comes from ancient Chinese literature with heavy homoerotic tones- HOWEVER- these boys have maintained some serious popularity with Japanese girls… And furthermore, are celebrated for being very athletic and very smart (qualities usually associated with more hetero-types.)
Does this? Could this possibly mean? That there is something to that little ditty about doing something like a damn girl. I’m so very, very excited to see that the trend in the world or the trendsters is to be more like a woman.
Rock on.
