It only took three years for Ngozi Odita and Heika Hapa to realize that instead of working side by side (selling at local street fairs), that they should join forces. The product of that union gave birth to Harriet’s Alter Ego, the Brooklyn, NY based boutique.
One step inside this captivating space instantly transports you to a far away land filled with sumptuous treats to satisfy all the senses. “We are trying to give our customers an experience”, says Odita. While the exuberant colored jersey dresses or tailored Batik vests made with fabrics handpicked in Nigeria would be enough for me. This lifestyle boutique offers yoga, sewing classes and art exhibits.
Along with their private label, you will only find independent designers at Harriet’s. Each designer carried there also works at the space once a week. “We want the people wearing our clothes to leave smiling and feeling good”, says Odita. I certainly left smiling and feeling good.
