Dirty Sexy Money
Thanks to the writer's strike this show is off the air until the networks cough up some cash for the hardworking screenwriters of the SGA-- but when Dirty Sexy Money does return I urge you to check it out. It's a guilty pleasure, but it's also a welcome change from the standard network fare. It's not a procedural, a hospital show, a cutesy family/couple sitcom or a dramedy involving snappily dressed women talking about their self-centeredness in even snappier dialouge. Not to say that there's no self-centeredness here-- it's one of the show's big themes. But the delightfully soapy exploits of the Darling clan are tempered a little by Nick George (Peter Krause, adorably earnest) , their family lawyer. Nick has to protect the super-rich Darlings from the paparazzi, their political opponents, each other and themselves, all while trying to stay principled. (Sometimes he does, sometimes he doesn't) Nick is also busy trying to figure out who killed his dad-- and he suspects Tripp (Donald Sutherland, excellent as usual), the family patriarch and his new employer. Every week the plot gets a little deeper, the characterizations more subtle and smart. I'm all for solidarity with my fellow writers and all, but for the sake of Dirty Sexy Money, I really hope they work things out quick.
