Chado Ralph Rucci's Spring 2010 collection was centered around neutrals, mostly black and white with cream, taupe, and sand thrown in. There was very little color, but the little used was bold: lime-yellow, red-orange, and bursts of gold.
Sheer paneling was a huge place of interest. They appeared on almost every pieces in one way or another. It was often used to lighted a heavy gown, break up monochromatic designs, and whole backs. A fully sheer black floor length gown was shown. Horizontal stripes and detailing were also used generously throughout.
The pieces were all very structured, even the more flowing dresses were still simple and clean. Rucci favored high necklines and low backs, or sheer panelled backs. Full voluminous shirts and dresses dominated the show.
At the close of the show, a standing ovation was given as the designer walked the runway. The longest applause I had seen so far. This season for Rucci seemed to be for a high society woman who is conservative but has a bit of edge. Everything was covered but the sheer paneling gave a peek-a-boo effect that brought youth and modernity.
