Jill Stuart’s Spring/Summer 2011 show was one of the most popular presentations during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week New York. Set in the promenade of the Koch Theater at Lincoln Center, the show was widely attended, especially by fashion-forward celebrities.

The Front Row: Young reality television starlets Kristin Cavalleri from The Hills and Roxy Olin from The City, both made an appearance. Kristin donned her usual eveningwear: a tight mini-dress and sky-high red pumps. Poor Roxy looked like she had just rolled out of bed.

Actresses Jessica Szohr from Gossip Girl and Taryn Manning attended, along with stylist Rachel Zoe’s comrade Brad Goreski, fashion photographer Nigel Barker and everyone’s favorite catwalk coach, Miss Jay.

The Collection: In typical Jill Stuart fashion, the presentation featured classic, feminine clothing like tailored raw silk trousers, cream and black print dresses and a gorgeous raw-silk night blue cape (possibly my favorite look from the collection).

Overall, the collection was très chic. Who or what stole the show? – The Kardashians’ presence in the front row.  It left me wondering: is it a benefit or peril for designers to invite reality television stars to fashion week? After all, you don’t want to permanently distract from your collection…
