Maria Pinto opted for an editorial style installation at the Banchet Flowers space in Meatpacking district of NYC for her Spring 2010 collection. It was a breath of fresh air to see artistically styled models grouped together on podiums with flowers surrounding them, after a week full of runway shows.
Pinto's inspirations have been taken from the raw sensuality and tension in the Argentine Tango, while she artfully crafted a tango of fabrications that include spiral chiffons, soft leathers, stretch wools and a new price-conscious shirred jersey series. I particularly loved the rich palette of basic steel and sand colors, balanced off with rich fuchsia and mimosa tones.
There were quite a few Michelle Obama worthy pieces, which even if won't be picked by the First Lady, will make every woman feel like one.
