Rad Hourani's Spring 2010 collection was one to see. The fashion royalty bomb exploded at Milk Studios this afternoon. Forget the tents, Hamish Bowles, Kate Lanphear, Susie Bubble, Leigh Lezark, and more gathered to see Hourani's show.
In complete darkness, two doors of light appear and at once the room is white bright. Forgetting all conceptions of a "flattering shoe," Hourani sends his models (male and female) down the runway in square toed, square heels. The collection was of black, white, and metal (not metallic...metal) with horizontal and vertical construction. Zippers were utilized both as decorations and functional detailing. Apparently, Rad wasn't a fan of collars this season...but I didn't miss them looking at his pieces. The backs of the clothing was paid just as much attention as the front; cloth was draped and folded as much from the front as from the back. Bleached white structured jackets and shorts broke up the sea of blackness. Steel also popped up in and between blacks.
Prediction for the most covetous pieces from the show are the pants equivalent of the bandage dress: Rad Hourani's horizontal bandage pants. Sometimes they were done in black leather, some were shown in steel, but everytime all eyes followed.
Truely, it was the most amazing show of the season.
