Just when you got comfortable cinching your middle, Alexandre Herchcovitch trades in the hourglass silhouette for some angles. In this collection, shoulders are the new waist and bright is the new black.
His creations beamed down the runway in neon and pastels, a la mid 80s. They' re baaaaaaack! The silk free-waist dresses were mostly short and flowy, often juxtaposed with black fur or constructed wool (likely to be a trend for fall). Strong shoulder lines and the cut of the fabrics created bold color blocks and geometric shapes.
Standout pieces included a structured wool one-piece and a sherbert-orange dress with voluminous 3/4 length sleeves. Also intriguing was a floor length gown featuring a dangerously low v-back.
Shoes ran the gamut, from slouch to bootie, many accented by a neon square heel. So, although Herschcovitch would have us hanging up our curve-accentuating belts, take heart; you' ll get at least another season out of those ankle boots.
