Cynthia Rowley's Collection One for 2009 -- so called rather than the same old "Spring"-- hit the runway Thursday afternoon in New York. Sleek, geometric and athletic, the collection represents a new take on seasonal dressing, which has become increasingly harder to define.
Cynthia Rowley's statements for the season include:
Transparency- Streamlined, scrim-like mesh and organza layered over embroidered graphic shapes. See-through stretch tulle over satin stripes. Details like panels and sleeves in transparent black and striped mesh.
Athleticism- Sleek, body-conscious, twice-knit dresses. Outlines that re-map the silhouette--the "silhouette in motion" sheath. Super-modern handbags molded from life-jacket material. Black-and-white striped shoes.
Bondage- Polished black linen that gives the illusion of leather. Almost Seditionary criss-crossing straps with utilitarian buckles, on waist, shoulders and the new skort silhouette. Black neck and wrist cuffs in enamel and leather. Elastic heels in white and black.
