“Reem Acra’s Fall 2008 collection represents confidence, modern luxury, and a global sense of belonging. Jewel tones such as midnight blue, aubergine, mustard and forest green are complemented by metallic neutrals and chocolate brown. This collection blends classic tailoring with modern sensibility.”
Unfortunately, the collection lacked the freshness that is so vital in fashion. The satin and chiffon fade dresses were too reminiscent of Prada last fall season. That is not to say though that there weren’t any interesting pieces in the collection. A felt flowered bomber jacket integrated the key trend of the season, but also made it more wearable and weather appropriate. Some of the airy, chiffon dresses were particularly pretty and the combination of the metallic detail belts was reminiscent of a Greek goddess.
The 80’s were another ostensible influence at Acra where boxy coats with big pockets seemed to have been revived after a twenty-year-long hibernation. Towards the end of the show, a collection of evening gowns came down the runway and looked destined for the red carpet.
