Prelude
Just making way to my seat was drama in itself. Celebrities pushed and clawed for their perfect positioning, as I waited quietly in the general seating area (the nosebleed section) for Rock & Republic’s Fall Collection. The star studded audience including Russell Simmons with his new arm candy, Finola Hughes, and Vivica Fox grew antsy as the orchestra ensemble took there perceptive seats in the pit of the shiny jet runway.
Act I
The bright over head lights finally faded down about an hour after the 8 pm show time, illuminating the crimson double RR’s ascending in the mid air above the raised platform. The live concert began as Rock & Republic models stepped out in a sleek collection of painted on pantsuits paired with oversized fedoras, leather coats with mink stoles, and slinky sexy evening gowns. The collection was surprisingly filled with suits not jeans. In actuality, the only jeans present in the collection were skin tight and black, worn by the male models paired with handsomely fitted blazers and cable knit sweaters. And yes, the “NOIR” titled collection color palette was filled with black-on-black looks. Yet, the burst of violet splatters here and there were among the best pieces in the collection.
Act II
As the pianist led the ensemble into a more upbeat blues piece, Miranda opened the second half of the performance stepping a bit more strong in a black leather trench, fitted trousers, and a black turtleneck. Emanuela looked absolutely stunning in the purple floor length sweater dress. We almost lost a model, as she nearly fell in the pit with the orchestra. Luckily, she regained her composure safely on both feet. Variations of amazingly crafted leather coats were the best element of the show. Rock & Republic proved last night that their not just a luxury jeans brand.
