Every girl has a dream, and today it was all about Barbie's dream - this 50 years old forever-young lady got her own runway show inside the Bryant Park tents!
Fifty of the top American designers agreed to make a special dress for this special occasion and the show was like no other! Real-size Barbie dolls (or models if you wish) walked the runway in looks inspired by Barbies of the past, present and future.
Calvin Klein, Donna Karan, Tommy Hilfiger, Diane Von Furstenberg, Marchesa, Vera Wang, Patricia Field and The Blonds were among Barbie's couturiers, playing with pink of all shades and shapes. However, one designer stole the show with his over-sized feathers a la Cher in 1986 Oscars - Bob Mackie himself. It was a moment of exciting relief - at least not all designers take the Barbie style so seriously.
The Barbie show was a great compensation for the missing Betsey Johnson prom-like runway show. After all, the Bryant Park tents can handle only so much pink and glitter.
Tomorrow, we'll be back to the dark and edgy Fall collections...
