About: Lavene Haszel Sharpe, born in 1983, this exotic Jamaican beauty, spent most of her childhood years cultivating and brewing her creativity until migration to the US with her family in 1994. It was a new and exciting era in her life, and even though most times were a struggle she remained focus on her future.
In her teenage years, she pursued her desire to be a dancer while obtaining a job as a Paralegal for a number of years all the while still feeling like something was missing. She became clear that she needed to shed the corporate gear for something more fashionable. What started out as small alterations to her own wardrobe grew into her friends questioning and wanting the same for theirs. She then took a chance and ventured out in the fashion industry and tried modeling in 2004, she was featured in Source and Smooth Magazine just to mention a couple. She loved modeling and start to learn more about the industry, which exposed her to the possibilities of a career. Eventually, she met two VERY SPECIAL people who would change her life and encourage her follow her dreams.
Lavene then went on graduate Gibbs College in 2006 with honors in fashion design and merchandising. She also obtained an award for her unique pattern making design sense. She interned at Michael Kors and Shawn Ray Fons before acquired a full time job as a design assistant for the Cut & Sew Knitwear Department at Hampshire Brands. She felt her excitement for fashion slipping while working for this missy company and craved designer her own pieces. She used that passion to blossom her own line Haszel Designs.
Not only is Lavene passionate about anything she does, she is innovative, artistic, imaginative, ingenious and resourceful… all great qualities that she uses to fuel her drive to the one thing that she feels she was born be a Designer. Each piece from her line was specially designed and handcrafted with meticulous attention to details. With an assortment of garments that can be paired together or with items from your existing wardrobe Haszel Designs are thoughtful, unique, sexy, flirty and made with love.
