GAp recruited some of the most promising young designers to reinvent American classic - the white shirt. Doo-Ri Chung, Thakoon Panichgul, and Kate & Laura Mulleavy of Rodarte all took a shot to create wearable modern pieces to retail between $68 to $88 as part of the Gap Design Editions. they also created a very glam Vogue-like looking campaign featuring fashion model A-listers like Stella Tennant, Liya Kebede and Carmen Kass. The result looks fabulous and chic, means doesn’t look GAP at all. In fact it looks soo good that the Queen herself Anna Wintour is giving them the cover of Vogue May issue to show off the pieces. "Vogue has a long tradition of supporting young talent — in particular, our local talent — to secure a brilliant future for American fashion,” adds Vogue’s Anna Wintour. “And Gap's Design Editions project…will give a boost to the three CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund winners, and bring their wonderful designs to a much bigger audience." With all the various collaborations flooded the fashion market recently, I must say this one of the most surprising. Or I guess we just don’t expect from GAP to make it to the Vogue audience. I might actually rethink visiting a GAP store in the very near future.
