More Luxury Afloat in Far East Asia
More Luxury Afloat in Far East...

Singapore is fast becoming a Far East hotspot, possessing numerous alluring destinations within its borders that keeps the tourist population vibrant season after season. The country will soon have another tourist destination to add, attracting both locals and international travelers alike: Louis Vuitton is slated to open an island-like floating store in the Marina Bay Sands, the integrated entertainment spot located along the Marina Bay waterfront. The Las Vegas Sands Corporation opened the Asian outpost four years ago and has built it into a world-class luxury resort and casino, complete with state-of-the-art convention and exhibition facilities, acclaimed restaurants and a dizzying array of the finest retail outlets, which Louis Vuitton will now join.

Las Vegas Sands Corporation Vice President for Retail-Asia, David Sylvester, realizes that the addition will serve to fixate the Sands that much more as a luxury locale:  “This [store] speaks volumes about the visibility and credibility we have established in the retail community.” The company has secured commercial terms for close to 80 per cent of its retail space, and plans to open up to half of that total space in the first quarter of next year The Marina Bay Sands boasts over 74,000 square meters of retail and restaurant space, 300 stores—the newest retailers as well as expected international luxury brands—and unique entertainment, including traveling shows of Broadway musicals such as The Lion King and boat rides on an indoor canal (no surprise that the company also owns The Venetian hotel in Las Vegas, which takes visitors on indoor gondola rides, complete with gondolier).
