Breguet Unveils its Marie-Antoinette Replica in NYC and LA
Breguet Unveils its Marie-Anto...

The legend continues of Queen Marie-Antoinette’s infamous stolen pocket watch. Now, we’ll all be able to gaze with our own eyes at this exceptional timepiece made exactly in its likeness.

For those of you unfamiliar with the story, it seems that one of Marie-Antoinette’s admirers commissioned Abraham-Louis Breguet to make an incredible timepiece just for her.  This particular piece took so long to expertly craft that neither of them was alive to see the end result.

This exquisite masterpiece is said to be the most complex ever created with over 823 parts.  It wasn’t completed until 1827, which was 34 years after she was killed and four years after Brequet’s death.  The story doesn’t end there; once the watch was completed it was stolen shortly after and much of the mystery surrounding the watch remained with unanswered questions.

Until one day when now owner of Montres Breguet, Nicolas G. Hayek, felt the urge to build a replica of the watch.  We now have the opportunity to see this replica here in the States.

If you’re a history buff or simply a fan of elegance, this might be an exhibit just for you! Whether you’re in the Beverly Hills or New York City area, here are the details.
