Calling all music lovers! The super sexy, pop/rock singer and songwriter, John Mayer, will soon release his new music video ‘Heartbreak Warfare’ the lead track of his new album, Battle Studies. Though this isn’t your ordinary video format, it utilizes a new technology referred to as ‘augmented-reality’ and lets YOU insert yourself into the action!
“It’s like a completely 3-D, immersive experience that you have,” he said in the interview with Wired.com, which was taped in between takes of Mayer’s August music video sessions on a green-screen stage in Hollywood.
To check it out for yourself, you’ll have to visit his website and download the “Heartbreak Warfare” AR marker, which will allow the technology to recognize you and augment you into the action! If you visit his website this month, you can download this feature for free. Once you do, then all you have to do is sit in front of your computer’s webcam and that image will be transported onto the screen where it looks like Mayer is singing to you. Now that’s what we call front row seats!
The complete album of Battle Studies will not be released until November 17. We here at LadyLUX are definitely intrigued to hear the new tunes!
What are you first impressions of this new way of doing 3-D music videos? Does augmented technology peak your interest?
