The British Electrical Socket

The British Electrical Socket
The British Electrical Socket
Meet the standard British electrical socket; actually designed with an on/off switch. Many electrical appliances draw electricity even when they’re turned off. Here’s the euro solution: Every electrical socket in my flat here in the UK has an on/off switch. Imagine how much energy we could save if we cut off the electricity to every socket not in use. This is cutting down on wasted energy, energy from cell phone chargers left surging power to a fully charged cell phone- or equally as bad- a cell phone charger left charging after the phone has been removed from the charger. I took a look online- hoping to find some of these eco-friendly euro devices that could be used in the construction of new American homes. I came up with nada. How do we build eco-friendly homes without economical resources? Home Depot just doesn’t carry the sort of environmental protection and conservation apparatus currently available and considered standard in Europe. What do we do about this? By doing our best to conserve, using the means and methods available to us, we’re making a statement. A wave of eco-friendly awareness will create a wave of eco-friendly alternatives. So use re-usable grocery bags and conservation light bulbs. Unplug you cell phone chargers when they're not in use. Spending more money up front on low output products or conservation products can mean future savings on your electric bill and the environment. Be eco-aware and help eco-friendly products make their way into the main-stream American consumer market.
