Are Concept Phones the Phones of the Future?
04/08/2008 08:05 AM

Laut's Radia
Laut's Radia

The new line of futuristic concept phones by Sony Ericsson are being developed. Phones that fold into watches and can be worn on the wrist like an early '90's snap bracelet, phones that fold out into flat screen tv's. While they wont be out on the market for a while, Sony is saying they've developed the phones of the future.

Michael Laut (www.mikelaut.com) thinks differently-he think simplicity will be the futuristic trend rather than super swank tech toys. His phone design, the Radia phone, shows that simplicity doesn't mean traditional. Its a steel and glass disk that fits in the palm of your hand.

While I'm not sure that the Radia or the snap bracelet will necessarily be the phones of the future, they certainly are expanding the boundaries of technical innovation.

I'm sure the ways our cellphones look and function are about to change dramatically over the next few years. I'm excited just to be able to watch this transformation!

This is going to be an interesting transition to watch, but new cellphones confuse me enough as it is. I guess nothing ever stays the same in the technology world :-P

I've read about this too! There's actually an amazing video on YouTube (I think Nokia did it?) showing the snap bracelet phone you are talking about... the video is a cartoon but it still shows the capabilities phones of the future will have. So exciting!

That's so awesome! That phone is so sleek and cute. Reminds me of a compact. Can't wait for the phones of the future! :)
