My Style
Some say style is a matter of personality, others say style is a matter of flare. I say style is a matter of desire. I desire to be me. I desire to be quiet as a child sneaking in the kitchen for cookies, sweet as cinnamon with a hint of spice, kind as the sun smiling on us in the mist of a cloudy day and gentle as the feel of a familiar blanket on a cold night.
I delight in wearing my low zip-up chocolate boots. They feel like I’m gliding on clouds, even though I’m trucking through the highways and byways of everyday life. They have a rugged appearance with a comfortable appeal. Nothing goes better with my chocolate boots then my gold and ivory sweater with the plugging neckline for a little something extra. My denim jeans are my old friend. I’ve worn them so much that I refer to them as old faithful. I can count on them to be snug in all the right places and loose in all the others to give me a care free look. Gold hoop earrings give me that happy go lucky look for the afternoon and dangling pearls add a professional flare for a casual Friday. The pies de resistance that puts a bow on this style package is a purse, but not just any purse. It has to be a shoulder bad hanging around neck and under my arm. It gives me a look of a lady with just the right amount of attitude and class. I get that glare of approval from the women on the streets who nudge their friends to make sure they both remember how to replicate the style. Men give me a smile or nod of approval just to let me know that they recognize and appreciate a women who cares about her appearance.
My favorite outfit is a pair of comfortable boots, a complementary pair jeans, a classy sweater, nice pair of earrings and a bag that says “I mean business” to tie it all off. The truth is an outfit is just that an Out Fit. It’s the inner person who gives it style. My desire is to exude a style that is all my own and when I think my outfit looks like all the rest, I remember that “I make the outfit. The outfit doesn’t make me!”
