About: My sister Bryony Proctor and I (Meisha Strykowski) created MoovBootsTM (luxury sheepskin lined Wellingtons) after travelling the world and getting cold and wet in our ‘Uggs’ and ‘Wellies’. We admit it was for our own selfish reasons that we designed them; but we fell in love with the idea so much Bryony and I sold our soul to working around the clock, outside our other jobs to set out on an adventure that was definitely scary and new to the both of us.
When we were younger, Bryony and I didn’t get along at all. Bryony being a tomboy and myself (Meisha) being quite a ‘girly girl’, we were always at loggerheads and arguing about something or nothing. Now obviously 15 years later we both have quite similar interests. We both really enjoy the mountains, travelling, fashion and popular culture.
Bryony completed a Media and Communications Degree at Macquarie University and I studied Graphic Design at Enmore Design Centre Sydney, so we have absolutely no experience in retail or fashion design. I think what essentially happened was that passion and energy got the best of us, and after a while the ball was rolling so fast that we couldn’t look back, we could only move forward. Thus the creation of the MoovBootTM.
MoovCultureTM Pty Ltd was set up, trademarks were applied for, Tariff Tax Code forms were filled out (as this product didn’t, until now, exist in the market place), warehouses were sourced and we set off to China and forged relationships with our agents over there. It was extremely important for both Bryony and I that our brand had a clear vision and that all our relationships were happy and healthy.
Bryony and I love the MoovBootTM. It takes us back to our old school adventures. We are driven by the belief that everyone should see the real world as a place that has dream like qualities; and that this should not disappear, as you get older. The first collection of the MoovBootsTM range was inspired by Alice and her Adventures in Wonderland, we chose this because we see a wonderland as a place that pushes boundaries, and after all who said Alice was lost?
MoovBootsTM are our brainchild. The MoovBootTM is an idea borne out of practicality, and as simple as it is; we believe that there is a genuine need in the marketplace for our product. We kept asking each other, “Why are we always getting our clothes ruined in the colder months, and why can’t we be as comfortable when we go out as we are in our Ugg Boots? Obviously there are people that wear Ugg Boots out, but we still don’t see them as a practical footwear option if it is raining or snowing outside (even though we love them).”
