Aww, come on!  It's Superman!  Action Comics #1 hit the stands April 18, 1938.  He is one of the most well recognized American figures in the world.  Countless toys, action figures, movies, television shows, a musical or two, radio shows and of course tons of comic books and the Last Son of Krypton isn't slowing down.
