Christmas was approaching. Plans had been made. The family would be getting together in the days following Christmas. My brother would be driving from Colorado. I would meet him in Southern Wisconsin.
I phoned Crossroads Community Church. It was my plan to volunteer for their Christmas dinner. I wanted to spend Christmas with people who didn't have anywhere else to go that day.
Wisconsin weather being what it was, plans changed. Unexpectedly, Brother John, would be arriving here Christmas afternoon. I had allowed my groceries to dwindle. I knew I would be away from home for the next few days. Stores were no longer open.
We visited. The church dinner was already over. We decided to go out to eat.
John and I got in the car shortly after 6 pm, looking for a Christmas dinner. There are 127 eating establishments within a couple miles of my home. I live close to Lambeau Field in Green Bay. We passed 126 of them. Only one was open.
John and I had Christmas dinner at "Hooters". We spent Christmas with people who didn't have anywhere else to go that day.
