Each year I give small candy gifts. I'd love to say I make it myself. However, this is the next best thing.
I discovered Door County Sisters Sweets because they had a seasonal booth at our local mall. I was mall walking at that time and, each morning I walked past this delicious display of treats. Knowing if I had one, I would want a hundred, I daily fought with myself to not purchase the candy.
As we got closer to the holidays, and it was so difficult to shop for a small meaningful exchange gift, I decided a box of candy would be just right. Each box size carried an individual price and I could choose what I wanted in the box. Some of the choices were: Paw Prints, Peanut Butter Cups, Wrapped Caramels, Fudge, Large Pretzel Rod with Caramel, Chocolate Covered Caramels, Cherry Cups, Angel Food, Peanut Clusters, Belgian Hash (No, it's NOT trail mix. It's Belgian Hash. Inspired by Door County's Belgian heritage, it has white chocolate, real peanut butter, fresh-roasted Virginia peanuts, whole fresh-roasted almonds and Chex cereal; all hand-mixed together), etc.
I can't even talk about this without hearing the chocolate call my name. Anyway, this has evolved for me so that last year I purchased twenty boxes of candy for gifts. (I only ate three.)
My favorite part about the gift is that it is already wrapped. It comes in a decorated box with a gold elastic tie closure. The gold store sticker, affixed to each box has their name and address. The store logo is at the bottom of the sticker. It reads: "God Loves You". As I give the gifts, I point out the "God Loves You" and say, "And I do too."
