I don’t mean to start off destroying the hearts of millions of men in America but doesn’t anyone think it’s time that we get over beauty being defined as a tanned bleached blonde, silicon injected, woman? One of my favorite trends, is quite the opposite of that blonde bombshell. It’s the trend that took this small girl form Nebraska and changed her to that punk rock loving girl that we all know today.
The “scene” is definitely what put this hole in the pocket of my pants. When I moved to Nebraska, I had no idea what the scene was. I had fallen head over my shoes for a boy who was 7 sizes smaller then me (literally he tried on my pants), with long straight spiky black hair, a lip ring, and tattoos scattered from his neck to his toes. From that moment on I was hooked. I went to show after show, and got more into the fashion then ever.
I took my extreme to the most that my parents would allow me, I chopped off my hair and dyed it black, a lip ring, a band shirt, torn jeans, and some massive eye liner. Those two years where by far the best and most carefree I have ever had.
Who ever would have thought that a bandana, black and white checkered shoes, a skull necklace, girls’ jeans, would be the fashion statement on 2007? The tattoos are unbelievable the time that is spent and the meaning behind them. It stuns me to think that someone who has a full arm of tattoos or a chest tattoo, that they are going to have that for the rest of their lives, and they’re excited about it.
Kids in the scene live and dress for the music; they love it, as do I. They took a statement and made it a fashion explosion all over the United Sates. Even thought I might have turned in my band T-shirt and torn jeans for an office job, but I would turn in my briefcase for a punk rock show any day of the week.
