Elle's September 2008 cover, featuring America's favorite dumb blonde, Jessica Simpson, has generated quite the buzz. The cover has drawn criticism for both Jessica's outfit as well as her artificial looking appearance.
In regards to the styling of the cover, Jessica looks very dressed down. She certainly does not look like the glamorous, colorful star she's known to be. Between the lumberjack plaid shirt and big rodeo belt buckle, it seems like she's really trying to change her image and drive home the message "I may have been a pop-star, but I really am COUNTRY now! My outfit is totally proof!"
But the main controversy is regarding her unusual appearance. Rumors have been flying around that there was major digital alteration of the photo, and it certainly looks that way.
Most notably, the digital alteration is seen in her hips. Critics have claimed Simpson's hips, thighs, and waist were digitally reduced. What a shame! Jessica is known for her curvy, beautiful body and now she just looks odd and unrealistic! Digital enhancement of her face has also been suspected.
Silly magazines, when will you learn?
