Once upon a time people were watching TV for the news, then came the big bad internet and changed the speed of things. We all know the story very well, or we won’t be here right now reading. People are in charge of the news, spreading them out, and reporting live in real time.
But please remind me when did bloggers start inventing the news, no, let me rephrase that. When did the printed media started posting rumors started on blogs, and since when is the economy relying on it?
Front page of the WSJ today was a piece about Castro’s death, the guy was able to create more news about dying in the past two years then actually showing his face in public. According to resources in Miami in the past two weeks every Friday there are preparations about his funeral. One was started because there were no flowers left in stores – which means of course that his family is getting ready. The other was a Russian consultant hired to manage the funeral since he did such a good job on Stalin.
The last rumor about Castro’s death was started by our beloved, Cuban-American, Perez Hilton (

I guess this is just another step towards journalism 2.0.
