Good furniture is hard to come by and even harder to pay for once you find it.
On one end of the ring we have Ikea, great for your college/first apartment furniture or fun accessories. The prices are great and the quality is just what you pay for.
The other end of the ring has the good old department store with furniture your parents loved shopping for. Solid dinning room sets and the couches with the occasional floral patterns.
But what if we want something young, with a great design that will not empty our bank account?
Clothing stores have thought about it a while ago. Many retail brands created an in-between brand that will fit their younger crowd that still wants quality they can afford. Ann Taylor has Ann Taylor Loft, BCBG has a BCBG Girls line, and even North Face has the A5 series.
Furniture now will follow and Crate and Barrel is in the lead. They have the CB2 line which offers similar brands for much less, great quality, unique design, and the option to decorate and innovate with different budgets. They also have The Land of Nod, which isn’t that cheap but is targeted to the much younger crowd. Parents who want to decorate their kids’ rooms with great designs now have a place to go.
All of their merchandise is available online.
A brand extension known in the clothing industry is a new trend: furniture for all ages, and budgets.
