Buddhist Master Shinjo Ito (1906-1989) has an amazing exhibit on view at The Milk Gallery near the meat packing district in New York City. He has a permanent collection on Broome Street in SOHO too at the Shinjo Ito Center where you can go partake in some yoga or meditation and have some tea. The work to him was a form of practicing his buddhism, often he would make a sculpture of someone to transcend his meditations to them. The sculptures were amazing and it was a very touching exhibit. If only all art work could have great meaning behind it, seems artists sure slap some silly things together in the name of art. They should take a lesson from Shinjo!
