About: I make photos so you don't have to.
I grew up in California’s Bay Area and studied fine art in Long Beach. I've always used a crisp eye and a muted color palette to experiment with themes of mystery, historic documentation, narrative timing and gender. I enjoy utilizing the materialistic genre of fashion photography as a vehicle for societal commentary.
My work captures a tangible stillness that often collides with a base mystery. A fleeting enigma is enough to direct the viewer towards a closer look. A glance of the eye or an open bottle of champagne spurs the imagination to connect the dots within an enigmatic wonderland. The curious scene seems all at once foreboding, sexual or perhaps just child’s play.
Experimenting with varying historical vernaculars, my photography usually echo a different era from the past or far future, while casting contemporary players. This startling contradiction invites the viewer to question his own mortality and time’s relevance to experience. Are we witnessing the cusp of the climax or the immediate aftermath? Is this quiet composition a simple mise en scène or the denoument?
Working out of Los Angeles, I aim to continue to produce provocative work within an ever-evolving palette while working with with Alex Prager, Jason Lee, Beck, Gay Ribisi, and Beth Riesgraf in their art ventures. I also work with such companies as Rock & Republic, WESC, Howe, Saddlelites, Rhythm Dynasty, and many other LA brands that pave the way for LA to once again be known for their fashion, art, and music scene.
