Inspiration for Reusing

Sometimes it is hard to remember to reuse items in our lives, even if it is habit to us. It happens to the best of the green environmentalists! But here is some inspiration for reusing....and it is also a reminder to us that we can reuse almost anything!

Furniture creator and artist, Gabriel Wiese of Erfurt, Germany, combines classic furniture design with ecology, and definitive cushioned comfort. Seeing an opportunity in a pile of corks he had saved, he began to make functional furniture and chairs that were made of these wine corks, essentially creating amazing works of art. Most of his work consists of cork casings, shaped over real chairs or banded together with steel, however there are some chairs that are made entirely of cork sewn together with heavy-duty cord. Gabriel Wiese states, "The material used keeps its own history while getting a new one started through my creations."

Weise's furniture art creations are timeless collection pieces that recycle items that most people wouldn't think to reuse while creating a pragmatic, comfortable, eye-catching, conversation starting chair. Imagine sitting in your wine room or cellar in one of these chairs, sipping on wine...Definitely a piece of furniture for those wine-loving eco-friendly people out there! Raise your glass and toast to that!
