Jen Kao was born in Los Angeles, and based in New York. After she attended NYU and graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Studio Art, Kao went to a Parsons for a post-graduated design degree. 

Kao launched her high-end womenswear line in Fall 2007. Staying true to the "integrity of design and dedication to the craft," Kao has been supported by the press and celebrity admirers. With inspired thinking and luxurious fabric, each piece is carefully envisioned and executed.

In her collections, and even each piece, Kao likes to explore the merging of often opposing elements or ideas. "A feminine fluidity is imbued with a rough-and-tumble spirit; a sense of sophistication infused with street or sportif touches."

This creates a unique aesthetic that is versatile and complex. The details, whether it be metalwork or stitching, are essential to each designs intricacy. However, Kao's pieces never lose their functionality. Although complex, they can be adapted for the wearer's need and moods. Kao dresses the modern women with a confident attitude and style.
