White Out

My closet, being the gaping black hole that it is, probably makes me the leader of the army of infinite black (if there was one).

However this summer, a new uniform of white seems very appealing. Besides the advantage of not melting under the fire-hot sun, the crisp freshness that all white brings is super inspiring.

Not being a fan of the nude/beige epidemic of 2008-2009, I find UNNATURALLY bleached-out white to be a fantastic - and preferable - choice.

Damir Doma is a Croatian designer that deserves more notice. His Spring/Summer 09 collection will show you how to layer: sheer and draping.

Eun Jeong Hong's pieces show the fairy-er way of white. Feminine detailing gives her clothing a princess-who-can-dress spin.

Yohji Yamamoto, the master, gives us his signature "all about the cut" attitude. His version of all white? The bastard baby of a white sheet and couture gown.

Although Rick Owens' head-to-toe white appeared in his Fall/Winter 09 collection, it shows that the best thing about white is the same as the best thing about black: the freedom to choose dramatic shape and design as priority. With no vibrant color to hide behind...it is full frontal fashion.

WARNING: people with a tendency to spill or drop may want to reconsider. (or buy a tide-to-go pen.)
