A Great Training Shoe

New Balance 768
New Balance 768

I have been running since I was a teenager, and have worn many of the running shoes on the market today. While my teenage running days were spent running in whichever shoe was on sale, I am much pickier about the shoes I choose to run in now.

For several years I have been a faithful wearer of New Balance running shoes. I like the brand and they make a quality shoe at a reasonable price. I wore New Balance’s when I ran my first marathon, and I wore New Balance’s when I set a personal record for a Half Marathon. In fact, it was after the half marathon that I realized, quite sadly, it was time to trade in my trusty old shoes for a new pair. Thus began my search.

My first place to look was Piperlime, one of my favorite online shoe stores. This site offers free shipping and returns, so it is an easy and convenient way to shop. After a bit of browsing I found the pair I was searching for: New Balance 768.

These running shoes offer extra stability, which is just what I need for the 20+ miles I log each week. These shoes also have ample cushion which helps protect my feet as I pound the pavement. Another great feature is the Sure Laces which stay tied better – who wants to have to stop and retie their laces during a race? I certainly don’t!

The shoe features some great technology including moisture wicking fabric which pulls the moisture away from my skin, keeping my feet dry and comfortable. It also has Acteva, which is “12% lighter than standard midsole foam with Dupont Engage for durability, it helps both runner and shoe last a little longer” (From New Balance).

While these shoes are slightly heavier than my last pair, they also offer substantially more cushion and support, making them an excellent shoe for training runs. And at approximately $100, they are affordable as well. Here’s to another 400 miles!
