Sometimes I happen to leave my virtual reality and go out there, to the 'real world", meet amazingly creative people and hear that MyItThings is really "It”. That happened tonight. I was lucky to be invited for the Bravo’s private screening of the last episode of "Shear Genius" by Tyson Daniel - one of my favorite contestants on the show (here is your hint or our next writing contest...) Can you imagine my excitement of watching the show with the contestants themselves? It was amazing to meet all the screen characters coming to life - super cool Thabata, super sweet Daisy, super charming Ben, super rich (now) Anthony, and of course my love Tyson (but this is a whole another post).
The sleek party at Tribeca Grand hotel has started by mingling and reuniting with this season contestants. You'd be surprised how bonded these guys are - everyone seemed to be really happy to see each other and share memories. After few drinks the tension was still in the air and everyone was really anxious to watch the last episode and find out who is the winner. Believe me or not, but at this point no one knew who it is.
Later on we all watched the last "Shear Genius" episode accompanied by laughs, cheering and comments from the group. Everyone seemed to bet on Daisy (the only woman left in the competition), but I must say that whoever made it that far has to be really good. When Anthony was announced as a winner and received his $100,000 check from Nexus there was lots of excitement and love in the air.
For one night there was no competition going on, just a group of creative people being happy to share their skills and talents, and maybe learn from each other. This is the main reason I watch shows like “Project Runway", "Top Design" and now "Shear Genius" - it's all about celebrating creativity and the individuals behind it. By bringing these talented designers together they create a lab for ideas and innovation. This community really inspires people to go after their dreams, dare and fulfill their vision. Cheers to Bravo for that!
