Shopdashonline.com has launched recently to offer you an online version of DASH, a boutique store run by Kourtney, Kimberly and Khloe Kardashian (yes, those hot brunettes from E! channel).
It was a pretty smart move by Kardashians to monetize on their offline success by launching an online store, but I still think they could have done it bigger and better.
First, the late online launch - their show has been running on E! for a while now and the store itself became a hot search online few months back, but was down until now. They should have been prepared for the online demand and launch the site as soon as the show started (or at least when Kim's Playboy pics leaked online, but this is another story...)
Second, the limited inventory (the store now contains only 7 dresses...). Most merchants do a mistake by offering the same inventory offline and online. The truth is an online store can handle as much inventory as you can imagine. It's all about organizing information (and products) these days.
Third is a variety - by offering mostly $500-1,200 garments Kardashians miss on the opportunity to catch their younger audience who can't afford high end designers. They should take a clue from their neighbors like ShopIntuition boutique who has an amazing variety of clothes and accessories for any budget online.
Bottom line - this is a great example of missed retail opportunity, hopefully Kardashian's 15 min of fame will last long enough so they can fix these mistakes. I think they got a potential to become one of those Hollywood families that everyone loves to hate.
