Graphic and glamorous, flirty and feminine, Marc Jacobs' 2009 Cruise collection for Louis Vuitton spotlights pure lines and subtle details, crisp cottons and fluid silks, pretty pastels and vibrant brights.
White color, dominating in this collection, serves as a canvas to the accent colors of pale pink, blue and orange.
Standout pieces include a hot pink silk crepe halter-neck jumpsuit with an obvious Seventies reference and a spectacular swimwear, which includes a chic black one-piece with slender straps. The Monogram in fluorescent pink or orange neoprene appeared here as a nice touch.
A collaboration with the London-based artist Tanya Ling worth mentioning on its own. It resulted not only in a unique watercolor prints on some of the clothes, but also on the huge canvases which decorated a windowed NYC loft space serving for the collection preview.
As always with Louis Vuitton, fashion and art compete for the spotlight, leaving the definitions to their customers collectors.
