Betsey Johnson - New York Fashion Week - Spring Summer 200809/12/2007 05:51 PM | Betsey Johnson Runway
Betsey Johnson was the one show I truly expected at the New York Fashion week. The fun, the joy, the cartwheel, the pink… and Betsey delivered! One of the most unique voices in today's fashion world, Betsey Johnson doesn't live by its rules. Latest trends look unimportant when her creative vision just explodes onto the runway. This time Betsey wasn't just a runway queen; she dressed up for a prom queen and took the crown. Disco ball, dancing pink lights, 80s tunes, numbered round tables with center flower pieces - all set up to accommodate the first row celebs like Tori Spelling and create the right mood. The party really began when pretty girls accompanied by their prom dates started coming down the runway. Each dress represented a period of time, starting from the 50s and coming into 2000s. Organza and silk, ribbons and headbands, polka dots and stripes, puff sleeves and crinolines, the usual fashion vocabulary by Betsey Johnson was showcased here with the strongest impact we've ever seen from her. She went fearlessly with her artistic vision, not trying to please anyone, but being true to herself. You could feel her true happiness spreading into the crowd, when she came last to make her unforgettable runway walk and of course, not one, but three cartwheels! For those few minutes we all returned to our prom night, but this time as grownups, and got the dose of excitement, fortunately without the prom night pressure, celebrating the fashion and Betsey Johnson!
