According to the designer John Galiano for Christian Dior big volume trend is here to stay. In his latest Haute Couture show in Paris drapes and bubble dresses ruled the runway, coming in all shades of jeweled tones encrusted with gold details and flowers.
I must admit enjoying the artsy flavor of Haute Couture shows, but this time Galiano didn't convince me that his vision is modern enough. I loved the laquered updos and bold painted makeup, even the impossible shoes, but these huge satin gowns just didn't have the right fit or the sophistication.
The stage wasn't impressive either. The satin drape on models background completely took away from the dresses, and inevitable compared them to curtains. Color palette was probably one of my favorite things about this collection, but nothing really surprised here. Comparing to to the last Spring Japanese themed story it definitely missing more of Galiano's sophistication and innovative touch.
