Richard Chai - New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2008 Show09/10/2007 01:40 PM | Richard Chai presented his version of 2008 Spring this Sunday afternoon at the New York Fashion Week. Similar to Peter Som's vision that I saw earlier this morning, his color palette consisted of light grays, whites paired with silky shimmery fabrics, less structured and more flowing. He did create few interpretations on the tailored suits inspired by male cuts and shapes. Here he went for a splash of color, adding deep cobalt hues and purple gray. He proposed maxi lengths that seem to be a new trend of the next season. According to several runways we’ve seen maxi skirts and dresses are coming to replace our favorite mini dresses we all have been wearing last summer. Richard Chai's long body hugging silhouettes looked fresh and modern. It did have that sensibility that is in the garments’ stitches rather than in their bold look. Cleverly placed pleats and seams demonstrated his excellent understanding of the woman body. Very wearable simply pretty collection.
