Despite the writers strike we do get to enjoy some award shows, like The Critics Choice Awards. Since it isn' t a guild signatory, the WGA did not picket the event, which enabled stars to attend as both nominees and presenters.
Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt, Kyra Sedgwick, Katie Holmes and George Clooney came to celebrate. And now to the most important part - the red carpet fashions

I have to start with Katie Holmes and say she looked very radiant. Her toga dress looked very out of place at first, but her great energy compensated for the dress. But... we all know that if Katie is wearing a toga, we all will be wearing togas next year.
Rest or the stars fashion were mostly disappointing...
Starting with the duo of Brittany Snow and Actress Amanda Bynes, who both didn' t get the color memo. The light purple and the turquoise don' t look very appropriate for the season, or maybe it' s just two of them standing together.
I like the fit of this red dress on Kyra Sedgwick, but not sure about what' s going on the bottom of it. Overall she did stole the show with this dress and I admire her for that.
After Kyra, seeing Angelina Jolie in a black trench coat was just sad. What happened to Angelina, the red carpet goddess? We' ve seen more trench coats from her in the last year than gowns on the red carpet. Bring back Angelina the woman, the actress. Being a mom and ambassador doesn' t mean loosing your sex appeal or a fashion sense...
Nikki Blonsky was another black disaster. Her stylist that picked this dress should be fired from the stylists union. There is lots of ways to make full figure woman look fabulous and sheer black sleeves apparently not one of them. At least her radiant smile saves the look!
As you can see overall it was pretty sad on the last night red carpet. i don' t know if it' s the writers strike that spoiled the mood in Hollywood, but I hope it' ll change by the time Oscars come.
